7 Steamy Ways Adult Passengers “Sin” on a Cruise (And Most People Do Several!)

Think of taking a cruise and it’s likely a family-friendly atmosphere that you envision. The kids play in the pool while mom and dad get some sun. In the evenings, everyone takes in a show in the theater and when in port, snorkeling trips make memories for the whole family.

Yes, when it comes to a family vacation there’s not much that’s better than taking a cruise. However, don’t think that means everything on the ship revolves around families. If you’re an adult that wants to let loose, there are some very naughty things you can do on the ship… and they are all legal — and often even encouraged — by the cruise line.

So how can adults “sin” while on their vacation? Seemingly no matter your vice, you’ll find something to keep you entertained.

Drinking

To say cruise lines make it easy to get a drink would be an understatement. No matter where you are on the ship, you’re going to be just steps from a drink. Modern cruise ships can have more than a dozen bars, there’s every type of libation you can think of, and all it takes is the swipe of your room keycard to get something cold to drink.

In fact, drinking is so popular on a cruise that the cruise lines even offer up drink packages where you pay one fee and get whatever you want whenever you want.

In short, if you’re on a cruise and have the budget, you’ll never go thirsty. Of course, having a drink or two is no big deal. But with the mix of being on vacation, the availability, and the drinking culture on cruises, there are definitely some people that “sin” this way more than others.

Just know that the staff can cut you off if you’ve had your fill.

Gambling

There’s been story after story about the fall in tourism to Las Vegas — the original Sin City. If you’re wanting gaming action, you don’t have to go to the desert. Instead of paying tons for rooms and parking and entertainment and food, you can get it all included with a cruise and get plenty of opportunity to gamble as well.

Nearly any cruise ship you sail will have a casino onboard and come nighttime, it’s the place to be. It will be hopping with passengers throwing dice, betting on black, or spinning slot machines.

Yes, the casinos are smaller than what you find in Las Vegas, but they also have lower limits and are less intimidating if you’re a novice gambler. All the games you expect are there, plus a number that you won’t find anywhere else but on a cruise ship.

For many, there isn’t much that beats a night in the casino at sea.

Smoking

Is your vice smoking? Other than illegal drugs, it’s actually one of the most restricted “sin” activities on a ship due to the worries about fire. As well, not everyone is a fan of the smell.

Still, if you want to light up to relax — whether it’s a cigar, cigarette, or vape — then it is allowed.

Specifically, smoking of any type isn’t allowed in your cabin or on your balcony. There are big fines if you’re caught doing so. Smoking is allowed in designated spaces. Typically it’s one portion of an outside deck away from most other people. Smoking is also typically allowed in the casino as you’re playing.

In fact, some cruise ships even have cigar shops onboard where you can purchase and smoke a stogie as you enjoy your vacation.

Making Love

Smoking, drinking, gambling, you can do it all on a cruise ship. We’d guess, however, that the most common “sin” is one that you (hopefully) won’t see anyone participating in, but it’s absolutely happening.

With warm weather, sunshine, swimsuits, and that relaxed feeling that only comes when you’re on vacation, it’s a no-brainer that many couples choose to get busy. You’re even likely to hear jokes about it around the ship, especially if you attend the late-night comedy shows or “The Newlywed Game” shows that are put on during the cruise.

And while it’s tempting, we’d suggest keeping it in your room and not on your balcony. Cruise balconies are marketed as private, but it’s actually easy to accidentally be seen by neighbors if they happen to be outside at the same time.

Eating

Want to be a glutton? There’s arguably no better place to indulge than on a cruise. Similar to bars on the ship, there can be up to a dozen restaurants onboard. Add in places to grab a snack in between mealtimes and there’s even more options.

From the buffet to the main dining room to specialty restaurants to 24-hour spots, there’s always something to eat. You’ll never go hungry, no matter what your mood or flavor is that day.

Best of all, if eating is your “sin” then you can get as much as you want. Buffets are all you can eat and grab-and-go restaurants allow you to come as many times as you want. Even the dining room allows you to order multiple entrees, although some do charge an extra fee if you do it to excess.

Don’t forget the unlimited soft-serve either!

Sloth

Maybe sloth is your sin? On a cruise ship it’s actually a bit harder to be lazy than you’d think. That’s because there’s constantly something going around the ship, so there’s always a reason to be out and about.

A cruise, however, is what you make of it. If you don’t want to do a single thing, then you don’t have to. There are plenty of ways that you can be lazy while on your cruise.

Of course, that starts with going to bed — and waking up — when you want. If you just want to spend the whole day in bed and order room service, you absolutely can. It’s your vacation.

If you want to go even further, every cruise ship will have a spa where you can truly be pampered. From spa treatments to massages, the only muscle you have to move are your legs to walk to your treatment room.

Watching Adult Content

It’s certainly not every cruise ship, but we have been on some where the sparks in the bedroom can be bumped up a notch… thanks to what’s on TV.

Yes, some ships have an option to rent adult movies right from your stateroom TV, just as you would any other pay-per-view movie.

Now just like in a hotel, you can expect the charge to show up on your onboard statement. If you’re the sort of person that would be embarrassed by this, then don’t order the show. But if you’re feeling a little sinful, the option may be there during your cruise.
