Princess Offering Half-Priced Cruises for First Responders & Medical Workers

After the past year-and-a-half, who needs a vacation more than nurses and doctors?

That’s why Princess Cruises is thanking first responders and medical workers by offering a new promotion with 50% off of select cruises through February 2022.

“We wish to express our sincere gratitude to the first responders and medical professionals who have been our heroes caring for people in need day in and day out and continue to inspire everyone around them,” said Shelley Wise, Princess Cruises vice president integrated marketing. “We hope this special offer affords the opportunity to get away with their loved ones to reconnect and relax on a real vacation.”

In addition, one person will win a $2,500 gift card for use toward a Princess cruise.

If you’re employed in a group that falls under this deal, it may be one of the most attractive offers you’ll ever see.

Here are the details…

Who’s Eligible for the Offer

So who can book this deal and get 50% off their cruise fare? As mentioned, Princess designated “first responders” and “medical professionals” as eligible. In the terms and conditions, the cruise line lays out more detail on who falls into these categories:

First Responder:

  • Firefighter
  • EMT
  • Police
  • Paramedic

Medical Professional:

  • Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNP)
  • Registered Nurses (RN)
  • Licensed Practical Nurses (PN/LPN)
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN)
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP)
  • Nurse Anesthetists (NA)
  • Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Medical Doctor (MD)
  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Other Health Worker

If you work in one of these positions, then you’ll need to verify your status on the Princess website to confirm you are eligible. You must do so by October 31.

Details of the Deal

Once you apply for verification by October 31, your booking must be made by December 31, 2021 and the sailing must take place through February 2022. In other words, there is a relatively short window of just a few months for booking and sailing.

Important Dates to Know:

  • October 31: Deadline for applying for verification
  • November 1: Sweepstakes drawing for $2,500 gift card
  • November 3: Verified workers receive email with 50% discount offer
  • December 31: Booking deadline for discount
  • February 28: “Sail by” date for offer

Princess says that some cruises may be closed or have limited capacity for the offer. However, those that are open will receive 50% off the “Princess Saver” fare. You can also book the “Princess Plus” price (which includes the drink package, wi-fi, and gratuity) for an additional $40 per day.

The discount is not available on mini-suites and applies only to the first two guests in a room.

In addition to the 50% discount, those who are verified are also eligible to enter a sweepstakes to win a $2,500 gift card to put toward a cruise. You must live in the United States to enter. At the beginning of November, the cruise line will select a random winner from the entries received.

One of the Best Deals You’ll Find

One thing to keep in mind is that this deal could potentially mean some of the lowest fares you’ll ever see on Princess if you’re eligible for the discount.

For instance, we found a 7-day cruise from Los Angeles in December 2020 for $498 per person for an interior cabin. At 50% off, that potentially means paying just $249 per person for cruise fare for the entire week. (Keep in mind taxes and fees aren’t included.)

In other words, if you would qualify for the discount and have thought of taking a cruise soon, there may be no better time to sail for cheap.

Note: Princess requires all passengers be vaccinated at least 14 days before the start of the cruise and have proof. Guests must also take a COVID-19 test within two days of sailing.
