MSC’s New 119-Night Cruise Takes You Around the World… For Less Than You Can Imagine

For many people, the idea of traveling around the world is a pipe dream. Even if you could afford it, arranging flights, hotels, visas, meals, and even putting together an itinerary would be a full-time job.

That is why for many people, that trip of a lifetime stays just a dream. But a new offering from one cruise line is putting the ability to see the world within reach. Instead of having to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars, arrange flights, hotels, and more, you can literally go around the world for the price of a used car.

A Once-in-a-Lifetime World Cruise For the Price of a Used Car

World cruises have soared in popularity in recent years. And while they used to be the domain of only the most affluent passengers, the prices have seemingly become more reasonable as the trips become more common.

Case in point: MSC is offering its latest iteration of its world cruise starting at just $20,699, with all taxes and fees included.

That’s right: Passengers can visit 45 ports across 21 countries, visit five different continents, overnight in places like Rio de Janeiro, Sydney, and Singapore, and literally circumnavigate the planet… starting at just over $20,000 per person.

Europe, South America, Australia, and Much, Much More

The global route takes you around the globe, stopping in five continents over the course of roughly four months.

Departing January 4, 2029 from Civitavecchia, Italy, the 119-night world cruise heads west through the Mediterranean, hitting spots like Barcelona, Malaga, and Casablanca. From there it’s across the Atlantic down to the eastern coast of South America.

You’ll visit Rio, Buenos Aires, the Falkland Islands and more before making a turn around Cape Horn. You’ll visit Chile, head across the South Pacific to exotic spots like Papeete and Pago Pago before visiting New Zealand.

You’ll be able to explore multiple ports in New Zealand, including Milford Sound before heading to Australia and circling nearly the entire country.

Then you’ll get to experience Southeast Asia, with five different ports of call in Indonesia, as well as Singapore and Thailand.

You’ll cruise across the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka, then into the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, with a stop in Alexandria before returning to Europe.

All told, the cruise covers five continents, 21 countries, and 45 ports of call across roughly four months. There are nine overnight stops in ports and 15 shore excursions included in the trip to help you experience more than just a quick port stop. It will also take you literally around the world, including passages of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Ocean as well as the Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea.

The trip takes place aboard the MSC Maginifica. Built in 2010, the ship is part of the fleet’s Musica class. At double occupancy, the ship carries only about 2,500 passengers. So you’re getting a ship that’s more manageable and approachable than the mega-ships seen across lines. It was also recently refurbished.

Starting at $20,699, but Most Will Pay Even Less

Now there are a number of worldwide cruises that you can choose from. What stands out about this specific trip, however, isn’t just the itinerary but the price. As mentioned, this cruise starts at $20,699 per person, with taxes and fees included.

(For reference, a 129-day world cruise from Holland America departing January 2028 starts at $30,009 per person.)

With that price, you get your room as well as a “Dine & Drink” beverage package that includes a drink selection with lunch and dinner. You also get 30% off of laundry services on the ship.

Want to save more? Classic level members and above to MSC’s loyalty program receive an automatic 5% off the booking price. That’s more than $1,000 per person off the price for an interior cabin. As well, those that book by November 19 receive triple loyalty points on the booking and those points are credited before departure so you can enjoy the higher status on the cruise.

Of course, if you’re spending nearly four months at sea, an interior room might be a little tough to handle. In that case, you can get an oceanview room starting at $22,849 or a balcony for $28,719.

And if you really want to travel in style, then there’s also the highest-end MSC Yacht Club starting at $77,149 per person.
