Margaritaville at Sea Announces First Cruise Ship, Set to Sail From Palm Beach

A name synonymous with sun, sand, and fun is now getting into the cruise business. Margaritaville announced today that it will start sailing its first cruise ship beginning April 30, 2022.

Margaritaville at Sea will set off with Margaritaville Paradise, cruising from the Port of Palm Beach. The line will sail two-night cruises from Florida to Freeport in The Bahamas.

“Margaritaville at Sea will be a new, exciting, and fun way for guests to escape and vacation in Margaritaville,” said John Cohlan, CEO of Margaritaville in a press release. “From oceans to lakes, Margaritaville has an organic tie to the water and with Margaritaville at Sea, we’re able to put our iconic lifestyle, resort experiences, and elevated service directly on the sea. We look forward to seeing guests on, and in, Paradise.”

The new cruise line isn’t starting from scratch, however. It is a partnership with Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line. That line has sailed from Palm Beach for years on quick, affordable trips to The Bahamas. Those trips look to continue, but under a new name and with updates to the ship.

“We’re excited about this new partnership as we launch Margaritaville at Sea out of the Port of Palm Beach,” said Oneil Khosa, CEO of Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line, who will serve as CEO of Margaritaville at Sea. We are incredibly proud of what we’ve built at Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line and are appreciative of our loyal customers and trade partners who have stood by us through so much. We’re excited about this next phase of our evolution, rebranding as Margaritaville at Sea.”

A part of that rebranding is an update and refurbishment of Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line’s current ship, Grand Classica. According to the company, the ship will feature “Margaritaville’s signature casual-luxe design.”

5 o'clock somewhere bar
The Margaritaville Paradise will get a refurbishment, creating a tropical feel, like at the 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar.

On the ship there will be JWB Prime Steak & Seafood, Frank and Lola’s Pizzeria, the Port of Indecision Buffet, and the LandShark Sports Bar. There will also be several bars (including the 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar), casino, theater, and the St. Somewhere Spa. All told, the newly named Margaritaville Paradise will include 10 decks and 658 cabins.

The first change that passengers will notice, however, will be the completely new paint job of the ship. Gone will be the basic white hull, replaced with a much more tropical appeal, including new trim colors and a large mural of a parrot taking flight at the front of the ship.

All the changes to the ship will have to be done quickly. Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line is offering cruises for booking through April 16, 2022. That trip returns to Palm Beach on April 18. The inaugural sailing of Margaritaville Paradise is slated for April 30. In other words, there are only 12 days to completely rebrand the ship and have it ready for passengers.

This rebranding of Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line marks the latest in the portfolio of Margaritaville business lines. Already the name is attached to restaurants, casinos, resort hotels, and even retirement communities. The tie-in of the lifestyle brand makes a lot of sense with cruising, and there will no doubt be plenty of fans eager to set sail starting in April.

As mentioned, sailings for Margaritaville Paradise begin April 30, 2022. Trips are two-day cruises from Palm Beach to The Bahamas. Rates start at $169 per person.
